Morning session : 11.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m
After noon session : 3.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m
Evening session : 6.00 p.m to 8.00 p.m
Ms. K.V. Lakshmi has formed a Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi training module that is traditional but unique in its approach. Lakshmi has made an attempt to ensconce the awareness of the human anatomy in the teaching technique, to make the dancers, physically powerful, strong and articulate in movements. We use the Abhinaya darpana, and Natyashastra as a theoretical basis for all classical dance theory. They will learn hastas, viniyogas, charis etc. They will also be trained in tala, music, Indian mythology and have a monthly guest class in other movement forms.
Karanas are also taught as a part of the Bharatanatyam course at Natraj Music and dance Academy. Karanas are the basic unit of movement in Indian classical dance as prescribed by the Natyashastra. The karanas course is aimed at developing the dancers body with the ideas of isolation and articulation. It provides fresh perspective to choreography and any form of classical dance. The course will help dancers reach their traditional roots to reinvent and bring creativity into their dancing.
